Later tonight, 12 councillors in Marrickville will take a final vote on the controversial resolution to boycott Israeli products, which has made the small inner-western Sydney borough the focus of a storm of media attention in recent months. The vote will determine whether Council overturns a previous resolution to study the feasibility of implementing the boycott through its own purchasing decisions. But in reality, although the final vote is yet to take place, enough councillors have changed their minds on the matter that it is set to fail.
