War has flared up again between Israel and Gaza with deadly attacks by Hamas militants sparking the conflict on Sunday.  Associated Press reported that 1600 people have died in the conflict so far, thousands more have been wounded and Hamas has taken about 150 people hostage.

Australian, Galit Carbone, a grandmother from Sydney was killed in her home by Hamas militants in a Be’eri Kibbutz, 5 km from Gaza.

This is a conflict with a 75 year history.  Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch accuse Israel of committing the crime of apartheid against the Palestinian people. 2.23 million of Palestine’s 5 million population live in Gaza, without any hope of escape.  A place the United Kingdom’s former Prime Minister, David Cameron and many others have called an open air prison, given borders with both Israel and Egypt have been often closed as they are now.
