Curtin detention centre is well and truly in the middle of nowhere, two and a half hours drive from remote Broome. Nina Boydell and Caroline Fleay made the trip and found 1200 Afghan men in limbo, waiting for their claims to be processed and in the meanwhile desperate to learn English and communicate with Australians.
