A Queensland woman was recently at the centre of controversy because of her eating habits. She’s 26 weeks pregnant with her first child and she’s adopted a highly restrictive vegan diet, reportedly eating 10 bananas for breakfast, 5 mangoes for lunch and a salad for dinner. Since the report, many have raised concerns regarding the health of her unborn child, with some claiming she was starving her baby of necessary nutrients. This young woman’s story has sparked a broader debate on whether a vegan diet really is harmful to a pregnant woman and most importantly to an unborn baby.
