Iraq reconstruction effort falters as time runs out to spent US funds

One of the ongoing justifications for the ongoing presence of coalition troops in Iraq is the need to rebuild the country. However, recent audits of the reconstruction efforts completed by a US government agency have highlighted several serious problems including the misuse of funds by US companies involved the rebuilding effort. But of more concern is that at least $2 billion worth of reconstruction funds not already spent may revert back to congress, unless it is spent by the end of September The Wire spoke with Antonia Juhasz, author of “The Bush Agenda, invading the world one economy at a time”.
