Since the seventies oil has been traded only in US dollars but now it appears some countries are wanting more independence in the way they buy and sell their oil. Iran will become just the third country to open an oil bourse, which will see oil traded using euros. Economist John Quiggin told Peter Godfrey what it will mean for Iran.
