Iran clampdown safe from world criticism
In spite of a communication blackout horrific images continue to emerge from Iran in the wake of the presidential election – in the latest a young music student is filmed dying after being shot by security forces. President Mahmoud Ahmedinejad has ordered the crackdown on protestors who claim the election was rigged. The bloodshed is causing outrage in media across the world . But although Britain has expelled Iranian diplomats , western countries are unlikely to react strongly to Iran’s brutal treatment of the protestors. Expert in global politics at the Australian National University Dr. Michael McKinley says all countries see the need to keep good relations with a regime they will be having delicate and important dealings with in the future.
