Australia is grappling with a shortage of language interpreters , which is impacting essential support services for NDIS clients from culturally and linguistically, also known as CALD diverse backgrounds.

According to the NDIS’ 2022-2023 quarterly report, the total number of CALD participants is over 54,000, while less than 3,000 interpreters are currently contracted to TIS National, raising the need for more awareness within the medical community about the needs of patients from non-English speaking backgrounds.
