A photo of a UN intern standing next to his tent and foam mattress, on the side of the road in Geneva has caused social media uproar. New Zealander David Hyde says he wasn’t able to financially support himself whilst undertaking the un-paid internship, and had to sleep in a tent because Swiss accommodation prices were so high. The picture has reignited debate over whether wealthier students have an unfair advantage over their poorer counterparts, when it comes to financially supporting themselves during an internship.
