People working in the cleaning industry are some of the most exploited employees in Australia, often being ripped off with below award wages and poor working conditions. That’s according to the industry union: The Liquor Hospitality and Miscellaneous Worker’s Union. As part of “International Cleaner’s Day” they’re holding several events today in Sydney and Canberra, including the inaugural “Toilet Brush Awards” for the worst employers, and the “Dirty Money” campaign to highlight cash-in -hand payments. Union Offical Jim Lloyd spoke to Ella O’Keefe.
