As expected, the Reserve Bank lifted interest rates this morning, up .25 per cent to 6.75 per cent. On top of inflation driving up the cost of living, this interest rate rise will add $44 to the average monthly mortgage repayment. This could send low and middle income families, already struggling with debt, squarely into the red, as The Wire reports.
