Environment Minister Peter Garrett’s plan to insulate all Australian homes for free seemed like such a good idea to reduce energy consumption of households. How can anything go wrong? Well, after some disastrous accidents including the deaths of insulation installers, and house fires due to incorrect installation, a senate committee is taking submissins from different concerned groups. Electrician representatives want foil insulation banned completely, some insulation associations want a short moratorium to iron out problems, and others are wanting to just get on with the job.
