Well we’re all still reeling from our election campaign, which seemed to go on unofficially for a whole year. Too long you think? Well spare a though for the Americans. They won’t head to the polls to select their next president until November 2008. But already the campaign to select who will be the Republican and Democrat candidate going into the general president election has been going for months. On the Democrats side there are two front-runners, Senator Hillary Clinton, who is vying to be the US’s first female president and Barack Obama, who wants to be its first black president. We decided to catch up with an Australian working on the inside of one of the democratic candidate’s campaigns. Madura Wijewardena discussed the significance of the Iowa caucus, the first big political contest of the campaign, which is coming up in a month.
