Western Australian Police are considering the recommendations of an inquest led by state coroner Ros Fogliani into the 2012 death of Maureen Mandijarra in their custody.
The 44 year old Balgo artist died as a result of poor health when police, unaware of her pre-existing medical conditions, left her in a cell to “sleep off” the effects off alchohol.
Ms. Fogliani’s recommendations call for arrest and detention to be made a “last resort”.
