Youth workers and community centers are calling for increased funding after the shooting of two Indigenous teenagers in Kings Cross on the weekend. A fourteen-year-old male who was driving a stolen car was shot in the chest and arm by police, after mounting the sidewalk and hitting two pedestrians. An 18-year old passenger was also shot in the neck, while four other boys in the back of the car, aged 13 to 24 were left uninjured.

The event has raised alarm bells as to why these boys were in the car in the first place. Hannah Sinclair looked at the responsibility inner city communities owe their youth, and whether programs are receiving enough support to really make a difference.
