We hear a little discussion about Australian criminal law in the lives of Indigenous Australians, but what about those laws that affect everyday life; laws to do with tenancy in homes, debt, and protecting one’s family? A report released on Friday as part of the Indigenous Legal Needs Project detailed the cases of many Indigenous Victorians who are being overwhelmingly affected by legal boundaries in their everyday lives. It is hard for them to find help regarding civil law matters, because the resources are just not there.
