The summit suggested by Indigenous Affairs Minister, Mal Brough, to tackle the problems of child abuse indigenous communities will not see members of the communites invited unless theya re a guest or advisor to a minister. Now Democrats Deputy leader and spokesperson on Indigenous Affairs Andrew Bartlett has come up with an idea for alternative indigenous summit, where politicians and the media would only participate as a witness to an all indigenous forum that could last for up to two weeks. The Wire spoke to Senator Bartlett about whether he thought it would be an adequate substitute to a national indigenous representative body.
