Indigenous Protected Area bigger than Tasmania to be declared in NT

As of today, over 100,000 square kilometres of land in the Northern Territory will be in control of the traditional owners. A ceremony was held this afternoon 500km north west of Alice Springs to announce the largest Indigenous Protected Area in Australia. The IPA will be bigger than Tasmania and include parts of the Tanami and Great Sandy deserts.
