Last week, the Victorian Government announced it was scrapping its plans to raise the age of criminal responsibility to 14 by 20-27.

It means 10-year-olds in the state can be arrested, charged and put in jail.

The decision was met with surprise and dismay by Indigenous organisations which had been pushing for the change.

National Indigenous Radio Service’s reporter Harrison Pedersen spoke with Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service CEO Nerita Waight and says the decision is a betrayal.
