New data has shown that Indigenous Australians are twice as likely to die by suicide than non-Indigenous Australians. This week is World Mental Health Week and people are being encouraged to open up and talk about mental health. However, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people are often left out of the discussion, despite having disturbingly high rates of depression and suicide.
