Seven people have been chosen for this year’s Australian Mental Health Prize.

The Australian Mental Health Prize is now in its fourth year and was established by UNSW Medicine through its School of Psychiatry.

The Wire spoke with one of this year’s finalists Joe Williams, a Wiradjuri man, from New South Wales, who now travels around Australia speaking about mental health and his own issues over the years.

He also spent 15 years as a professional sportsperson, playing in the NRL for South Sydney Rabbitohs, Penrith Panthers and Canterbury Bulldogs before swapping to professional Boxing.
