Speakers at the Garma festival, a celebration of Yolngu culture in north-east Arnhem land, have spoken on the theme of ‘truth-telling’ this year.

Among them was Noel Pearson, who urged attendees not to give up on the campaign for a constitutionally enshrined Indigenous voice to parliament, despite Malcolm Turnbull’s rejection of the proposition in the Uluru Statement from the Heart last year.
