A new program will help incorporate Indigenous traditional knowledge into school science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) curriculum across Australia.

The Stronger Smarter Institute Indigenous Knowledges in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (SSiSTEMIK) starts in August with a series of workshops in Brisbane.

The workshops will be led by Indigenous experts over four days, the workshops aim to better equip teachers in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics to include Indigenous knowledge into their teaching practices and to include culturally responsive ways to interact with all students but especially Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander students with STEM.

The Wire asked one of the researchers at the institute what they hope to achieve with these workshops.
