Six years ago, the Ngarda Civil and Mining company was setup by ATSIC and contracted to mow the lawns of BHP executives in Port Hedland. Yesterday it signed a contract to take working control of the BHP mine in the Pilbara. Owen Teakle talked to the executive chairman Barry Taylor, about the new contract and the company’s role in curbing the areas crippling Indigenous unemployment.
