Indigenous kids in remote communities are less likely to go to school and find a job than their non-Indigenous counterparts, and despite many commitments to closing the gap, not a lot has changed. An Indigenous Education Action Plan attempting to address this imbalance was drawn up by a working group of indigenous leaders in 2009. The plan was approved by the Ministerial Council for Education in April last year, but still hasn’t been endorsed by the Council of Australian Governments.
