Indigenous communities divided over constitutional reform

When the Australian Constitution was created in 1900, there was no mention of the people who had already lived here for more than 40,000 years. Today, there’s a push for this gaping omission to be amended and for Indigenous people to be recognised – you might be familiar with the glowing “R” of the Recognise campaign. Sounds good, right? Not everyone thinks so, including some among our Indigenous communities. The Wire listened in this morning as a group of prominent Indigenous spokespeople debated the issue at the 98.9FM studios in Brisbane.
