Good dental health is a fundamental part of our wellbeing, allowing us to eat, drink and speak without pain or embarrassment. But research from the Australian Medical Association reveals Indigenous people are suffering from higher rates of dental disease than the rest of the population. The medical body is calling for reform, including more access to fluoridation and a boost in Indigenous doctors to help close the gap.
