Indigenous Australians and Torres Strait Islanders have been completing the census for 49 years. During this time the Australian Bureau of Statistics has aimed to collect a large range of data from these communities including information from population growth, health, education, culture and language, to housing, income, and law and justice issues. But one Indigenous leader and close the Gap supporter is urging more Indigenous Australians to continue filling in the census to encourage a sense of inclusion and to gain a clearer picture of our national journey towards closing the gap.
