It was time for Indigenous Australians to shine at the National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander awards for the arts, sports and community work – the Deadlys. Nearly two decades on since the awards first started, winners say they continue to play an important role in celebrating the strengths of Indigenous Australians and their contribution to the wider community.
