India’s first ‘Slutwalk’

The ‘Slutwalk’ movement began earlier this year, when a Toronto policeman suggested that women should avoid dressing like sluts if they don’t want to be targeted, prompting protests around the word. India’s first Slutwalk was held over the weekend, where hundreds marched in the streets of New Delhi. Unlike previous Slutwalk protests in other countries, fishnet stockings and skimpy clothing were not the order of the day. The march was renamed ‘Besharmi Morcha’ meaning ‘Shameless Front’, as people marched for the right to live without fear of sexual violence-regardless of what they’re wearing.
