NSW police have been given increased powers under new surveillance laws. Attorney General, John Hatzistergos announced the changes yesterday. The Surveillance Devices Act 2008 started on Friday, and allows for warrants to be extended from 3 weeks to almost 3 months. The Attorney General says the new laws will help to prosecute terrorists and to crack down on organized crime, but is the price of this security impinging on our right to privacy?
