Impoverished Cambodians facing forced evictions

Urban renewal sounds like an attractive proposition, but not for Cambodia’s poor. The nation’s government is illegally and forcibly removing thousands of Cambodia’s most vulnerable citizens from their homes all under the guise of development. This according to a recent report by Amnesty International titled, ‘Rights Razed: Forced Evictions in Cambodia’. But Prime Minister Hun Sen’s government has strongly refuted these claims unequivocally stating that “there are absolutely no forcible and unlawful evictions in Cambodia”.
