A local Aboriginal community near the South Australian mining town of Leigh Creek is calling on the State Government to involve them in discussions about the town’s future. Alinta Energy earlier this year announced it will be closing its coal mine near the town. The Iga Warta Aboriginal community relies on the mining town for health and education services, as well as petrol and supermarkets. They are worried the State Government will cease funding these vital services once the mine is closed.
