The global financial crisis has left Australia remarkably untouched but its effects are still being felt around the world. A globally renowned feminist economist currently in Australia has told The Wire that the crisis may not have been so catastrophic if more women had been in positions of power. But she says that the institutions themselves need to change, not just the gender of the people working in them.
