ICJ dubs ‘Malaysian solution’ a breach of the law

The International Commission of Jurists (ICJ) has today denounced the Government’s plan to process asylum seekers in Malaysia. Non Profit Organisation ICJ claims the Government is in breach of international and national law. These calls come after the United Nations Commissioner for Human Rights Navay Pillay also warns Australia’s Asylum seeker deal could violate international Law. The refugee plan involves 800 asylum seekers arriving in Australia by boat will be re-located to Malaysia, in exchange for 4000 processed refugees. Malaysia is not a signatory to the UN convention of refugees, or torture.
