Tonight in Sydney, the Prime Minister John Howard will deliver the second of his Australia Rising speeches – this time detailing the Coalition Government’s education agenda for the coming election. That agenda is tipped to include greater automony for schools, and giving principals the authority to hire and fire teachers. Also in the PM’s sights – school bullies, with calls for teachers and parents to be given more information about bullying, and principals given more powers to address the problem.
