The social media age ban could isolate young Australians in regional communities.

The social media age ban announced by the Federal Government last week will prohibit Australians under the age of 16 from accessing social media platforms like TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and Snapchat.

The ban, which passed the parliament with bipartisan support, is intended to combat mental health issues caused by social media use, as well as online bullying and radicalization among young Australians.

However, there are concerns that the ban will disproportionately impact young people in regional communities.
