Australia has finally elected its first Indigenous representative to the House of Representatives. Liberal candidate Ken Wyatt claimed victory in the Perth seat of Hasluck yesterday. It raises questions about what’s expected of Indigenous politicians. He won’t just be representing his constituents in Hasluck, but Australia’s entire Indigenous population.
