Honour and integrity in Australian sport
Today the Federal Sports Minister Kate Lundy announced a new organisation aiming to monitor and punish those guilty of match-fixing, whether at the national, state, or local level. The National Integrity of Sport Unit will monitor unusual activity from umpires, players and betting agents alike.
The Greens are backing the proposal, thinking now is a better time then ever to stop illegal betting and match-fixing in its tracks.Media statement from Cricket Australia:”Cricket Australia welcomes the establishment of a National Integrity of Sport Unit (NISU), however, we want more detail about the scope of the NISU, and we will be receiving a detailed Departmental briefing shortly.”
