Hong Kong occupy protesters dig in despite aggressive police tactics

Tear gas and pepper spray has been used against Hong Kong Occupy protesters, who are angry about the Chinese government’s backflip on allowing a democratic vote for their next Chief Executive. However the aggressive police tactics seem to have backfired, spreading protesters around the business district and causing more citizens to rally to the cause. With neither side giving in to the other’s demands it looks like Hong Kong could be heading for an extended period of civil unrest.
