A recent study showing that one in two people that sought emergency housing accommodation had to be turned away. Now the Labor Party has pledged to invest 150 million dollars over five years to ensure more people can have a bed for the night. Peter Kell CEO of Anglicare Sydney welcomes the Labor initiative however he says a much more integrated approach is needed from both our Federal and State Government’s. He says that a study his group conducted in Paramatta, Sydney, in 2005 shows that the range of factors that lead to homeless need to be taken into account.
