Homelessness rises despite increase in support payments

Advocates are calling for governments to work together to reduce the number of people experiencing homelessness, as newly released figures show service providers across Australia are forced to turn hundreds of people away each day, sometimes more than once.

This is despite increases in support payments during the height of COVID lockdowns that saw the JobSeeker payment effectively doubled.
