Now the rainy winter weather has kicked in, it really makes us appreciate those nights at home, watching the t-v and enjoying a hot drink. But for those one thousand Australians who are homeless, this seems to be a luxury beyond their wildest dreams. The scariest fact is that half of those homeless are under the age of twenty five. Homelessness results in social and economic costs not only to individuals but also families and entire communities. One thousand delegates are attending the fifth National Homelessness Conference in Adelaide this week to talk about the issues confronting those experiencing homelessness today. The chair of Homelessness Australia, Annabel Senior tells us why there are still so many Australians without a roof over their head. Also giving their views are Adelaide Aboriginal Affairs Manager for Centacare, Neville Highfold, and former homeless person and Homelessness Advocacy Service Spokesman, Tim Stapleton.
