High Court to decide whether Lex Wotton was ‘gagged’

Queensland Aboriginal man Lex Wotton was jailed following the Palm Island riots in 2004. He’s now on parole but his freedom to speak publicly or to the media are still severely limited by Queensland legislation. Lex Wotton’s lawyers have been in the High Court this week challenging those conditions as unconstitutional. Lawyer Stewart Leavitt says if the decision goes against the Queensland government Lex Wotton will have plenty to say and may consider entering politics.
