What’s the worst that could happen if Tamil refugees are returned to Sri Lanka after a brief assessment process? We hear the personal story of one Tamil who returned to Sri Lanka last year.

The High Court will soon decide the fate of 153 asylum seekers, as the government pushes to send them back to Sri Lanka. One group of asylum seekers have already been sent back, outraging activists and legal experts. A second group of asylum seekers remain in limbo on the high seas, while the court decides on the legality of the government’s strategy.

A warning: this story contains graphic descriptions of violence and sexual assault.
