The recent death of seven-year-old from New South Wales, Shellay Ward, has sparked concern about the role of the New South Wales Department of Community Service. The Shadow Minister for Community Services and Child Safety in New South Wales, Katrina Hodgkinson, believes the department is not doing its job while President of the ACT office of the National Association for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect, Dr Sue Packer, says it is the community that should do more to help.
