The Australian Catholic Univerity’s Aquinas Lecture will be delivered this year by mother and daughter – Joan Hendriks and Cindy Shannon. The address aims to draw out social issues — and under scrutiny this year is the tension between current government health policy and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community control. Ahead of the speech, the Wire spoke with Joan Hendriks about the importance of Indigenous history and changes needed within government and the community.
