There has been much talk about the foreign women trapped in Syria and connected to ISIS, but their plight is often tied to cliche concepts such as the naive child or the fanatic. But, as investigator and author Azadeh Moaveni discovered through undercover visits to the women since 2013,  there is much more nuance to their situation. She has told their stories in her book, Guest House for Young Widows.
