Greens try to clamp down on military involvement in our aid distribution

Did you know that the Australian Defence Force and Federal Police have a role in distributing Australia’s overseas aid? The Greens aren’t keen on their involvement, and they’re introducing a bill to stop it.

In countries like Afghanistan, the Australian Defence Force assists in building schools, roads, hospitals and mosques for local communities. The Greens see this as problematic, and they’ve introduced a bill to establish a Commissioner on Aid Effectiveness to act as an independent watchdog in monitoring our aid spending.
