Greens push legislation to stop biased government advertising

The Greens are arguing that tougher rules are needed to stop governments using taxpayer funds to push their own politics. The push came as the government gave itself an exemption from its own rules to launch an advertising blitz in support of its mining super profits tax. The opposition is crying foul, but the Greens say that both major parties have done the same thing, and that legislation needs to be passed to ensure that government advertising is in the public interest.
